Some say that life is a balance between holding on and letting go. Our lives are ever-weaving between the experiences that we welcome with open arms, and the events that force us toward change that we despise. Finding our balance will help us stand strong!
Although the word ‘respect’ is only present in our 7th UU principle, the intention of our monthly theme is woven into the deepest parts of our relationship with ourselves, one another, and the world. Let’s open each principle and see respect at its core.
Unitarian Universalist minister Forrest Church wrote in a sermon in 1998, “Acceptance trumps tolerance.” Let’s stretch that even further and swap the condescending tone of tolerance for the deeper meaning and relationship that comes with true respect.
