Theme: Love as Celebration

June gloom, June weather is real here in the Valley. Wow, I had forgotten that! It is almost summer and I’m longing for the warm days. I’d like 80-90 with low humidity! It feels good to me. How about you? How does June in all of its glory, Love and Celebration resonate with you?

Love Connects Us. Love celebrates important ways Unitarian Universalists live out our faith in this covenantal community. Many of us have been moved by love and gathered in spirit, we embrace our responsibility toward one another and the world at large. We encourage one another’s search for truth and meaning. We strive to be active in peace-making and other efforts to improve our world.

Our Congregational Meeting will take place this month. Lots of plans for July through June of the next year have been made or are being considered. We have much to do, dear SepulvedaUU! What comes next for us is the big question. Will we thrive? Shall we limp into the dark night of the soul? Can we contemplate life without SepulvedaUU? These and so many things are unresolved as yet. But true to all life, give it time. Answers will be found. They come when we want them. They come when we don’t want them.

So be the change agents I believe you can be! Step into this beautiful season with joy. June is the most popular month for weddings. June is a season of family and friends gatherings near and far. June has the forward orientation of the high school graduates, the expectations of the college graduates, and the sheer joy of many a UU minister who has completed their journey in ministry and a new job or retirement is on the threshold. Ah yes, June!

So sing with me this month as we celebrate at SepulvedaUU – all the while celebrating love. We are the world, we are the children. We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let’s start giving. There’s a choice we are making. We’re saving our own lives. It’s true we’ll make a better day just you, me, and SepulvedaUU!

As Unitarian Universalists, we belong to a beloved community with a heritage of love, truth-seeking, and peacemaking. Dear SepulvedaUU, keep the hope alive. Keep on LOVING!
