Teri Ismail

Teri was nudged into Sepulveda Unitarian Universalist Society. It was green, at least in the spring and the beginning of summer. The grass was tall and the ladybugs were hiding in the grass. The neighbor had chickens and the other one had horses. They’re gone now. They were conducting a play in those days. They seemed to have one a year old. Teri enjoyed being involved in them. Her child played them as well, and she was three years old at the time and is now 45. SepulvedaUU was Teri’s refuge from the city. Ahhh, but things change. Change is […]

A Word from Rev Gordon

A Word from Rev Gordon

Our spiritual theme for this month is Love as Pluralism. “I thought about the meaning of pluralism in a world where the forces that seek to divide us are strong. I came to one conclusion: We have to save each other. It’s the only way to save ourselves.” –Eboo Patel New Years Thoughts for UU’s and Beyond: I wish you all a happy New Year. I wish you all a happy New Year with lots of health, peace and love. These are the sentiments I was holding onto as the New Year opened. These are the thoughts I still have […]

Dear friends, It is a very special time of year. Truth, every time of year, every time of life is special. Someone is being born, someone is transitioning from this earth, Holidays happen, birthdays come and go, so everyday is special to someone. Sadly, not everyone has the privilege to enjoy the special times due to circumstance, sometimes beyond their control. In my joy and abundance, I want to share with others who, for one reason or another, are in need. So what is this about? This is about me learning about a critical shortage of men’s clothing that the […]

President’s Corner

President’s Corner

I am both excited and sad to give this message from the Board this month. I am happy because it gives me an opportunity to speak to directly to you but saddened because I am doing this because our beloved President is under the weather. Though you may not have noticed because she has been a number of our activities virtually, Janet suffered from a fall this past month and is taking some time to recuperate. She is recovering well and I’m sure she would love your well wishes. You can email her at JanetL@SepulvedaUU.org. She is planning to back […]

A Word from Rev Gordon

A Word from Rev Gordon

Our spiritual theme for this month is Divine Light: Marvelous Light “Spirituality is recognizing the divine light that is within us all. It doesn’t belong to any particular religion; it belongs to everyone” Muhammad Ali Light is a source of illumination, whether a natural one (like the sun) or an artificial one (like your lamp). Like light itself, the word can take a lot of different forms — it can be a noun, an adjective, or a verb, and it can mean “bright” or “not heavy”. Therefore, Light, when we move from theory, speculation, possibility, plans, hopes, and good intentions […]
