Day 1. What Does Wholeness in Theology Look Like?

As we begin 31 Days of Bringing Our Wholeness, we start with a fundamental question: What does wholeness in theology look like? Our commitment to spiritual diversity is at the heart of our faith. We believe that no single path holds all the answers and that every perspective adds richness to our collective understanding of life’s mysteries.

Embracing Spiritual Diversity
Wholeness in theology means creating space for a wide range of beliefs and practices—atheism, theism, agnosticism, earth-centered spirituality, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, Jainism, and more. It is a tapestry woven from the threads of our individual and communal experiences. This diversity invites us to learn from one another and reminds us that revelation is continuous and found in many forms.

We are called to respect one another’s searches for truth and meaning while honoring the interdependent web of all existence. This approach to theology isn’t about uniformity; it’s about unity in love, acceptance, and mutual growth.

How We Live Theological Wholeness

In practice, wholeness in theology looks like:

  • Welcoming Questions: Encouraging open exploration of big questions about existence, meaning, and morality
  • Building Bridges: Engaging with other faith traditions in dialogue and collaboration
  • Fostering Respect: Celebrating differences as opportunities to grow in compassion and understanding
  • Living Our Values: Grounding our spiritual beliefs in action that promotes justice, equity, and care for the earth

An Invitation to Reflection
How does your theology bring you wholeness? What have you learned from the spiritual journeys of others? As we begin this month of reflection and action, let us commit to honoring the diversity of belief that enriches our shared path.

Together, we can weave a theology of wholeness rooted in love and grounded in the transformative power of community.

Wholeness is not a fixed state; it is an evolving practice of acceptance, compassion, and justice. Together, let us explore what it means to bring wholeness into our own lives, our congregations, and the broader world.
