Day 26. Mohamed Hadid Redefining Luxury in Real Estate.

“I came from nothing. I never forgot that. Every wall I build is a reminder that the foundation matters most.”

— Mohamed Hadid

Mohamed Hadid is a Palestinian American real estate developer who has become synonymous with luxury, resilience, and reinvention. Known for building some of the world’s most extravagant mansions, Hadid’s personal story is just as grand — one marked by displacement, determination, and dreaming beyond limits.

From Refugee to Real Estate Tycoon

Born in Nazareth in 1948, Hadid and his family were forced to flee Palestine during the Nakba, eventually settling in Syria, then Lebanon, and finally the United States. His early life as a refugee shaped his sense of identity, ambition, and the importance of building — not just homes, but legacy.

After studying at North Carolina State University and MIT, Hadid began his entrepreneurial journey by flipping cars and opening a nightclub in Greece. His breakthrough came in real estate, where he combined a bold vision with an eye for lavish aesthetics.

Architect of the Ultra-Luxury Market

Mohamed Hadid rose to prominence in the 1980s and ’90s by developing opulent hotels and residential properties in the US and abroad. He built The Ritz-Carlton hotels in Houston and Washington DC, but is most famous for creating massive, custom mega-mansions in Los Angeles — often with gilded ceilings, sprawling staircases, private spas, and art galleries.

Hadid’s most iconic projects include homes in Beverly Hills and Bel-Air, boasting price tags in the tens of millions. His properties have attracted global elites, celebrities, and royalty, earning him the nickname “The King of Mega-Mansions.”

A Legacy of Identity and Success

Despite the glitz, Hadid remains deeply connected to his Palestinian heritage. He has spoken publicly about his refugee roots, the loss of his family’s home in 1948, and the importance of honoring his background even as he reached the heights of American wealth.

He is also a proud father to Gigi, Bella, and Anwar Hadid — internationally recognized models and public figures who often speak out about their Palestinian identity and humanitarian causes.

“Being Palestinian is not a footnote in my story. It is the story,” Hadid once told GQ Middle East.

Quotes to Reflect On
