Day 30. Looking Ahead to The Next Generation of Arab American Visionaries.

“We are the ancestors of the future. What we build today becomes the path for tomorrow.”

— Layla F Saad

On the final day of Honoring Arab American Visionaries, Innovators, & Cultural Icons, we pause to reflect on the legacy being built right now — and the trailblazers yet to come. The journey of Arab Americans is one of resilience, brilliance, and transformation. Each story we’ve shared this month is a foundation for the future — a spark to inspire the next wave of artists, scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, and storytellers.

From Roots to Rising Stars

The Arab American community has long faced marginalization and misrepresentation. Yet from Kahlil Gibran’s soulful poetry to Rashida Tlaib’s historic presence in Congress, Arab Americans have pushed through barriers and reshaped the cultural, political, and scientific landscapes of the United States and beyond.

Today, young Arab Americans are not only dreaming big — they’re creating change:

  • Janna Jihad, a young Palestinian journalist and activist, is telling powerful stories through grassroots media.
  • Yasmine Elhady, comedian and attorney, is using laughter to explore the intersections of identity and justice.
  • Tarek Masoud, political scientist and professor at Harvard, is shaping how the world understands democracy in the Middle East.
  • Alaa Murabit, physician and UN High-Level Commissioner, continues to lead on global health and gender equity.

These visionaries — and many more — show that the legacy of excellence is alive and evolving.

What’s Next?

The future is being written in classrooms, art studios, laboratories, and neighborhoods. It’s being shaped by:

  • Students learning their ancestors’ languages and histories.
  • Artists sharing bold new narratives through film, digital media, and performance.
  • Tech entrepreneurs developing apps to empower refugees or solve global crises.
  • Youth activists fighting for climate justice, racial equity, and freedom of expression.

This next generation will not only carry forward the torch — they’ll ignite new flames of possibility.

Your Role in the Legacy

You don’t have to be famous to be a visionary. Every act of mentorship, storytelling, and truth-telling builds a more vibrant and inclusive future.

  • Share stories of Arab American excellence in your schools, congregations, and social media.
  • Support scholarships, internships, and mentorship for Arab American youth.
  • Create space for creative expression and intergenerational storytelling.
