President’s Letter
1 Sep 2025
Dear Beloved Community,
I hope this message finds you well as we ease into the final stretch of summer and the beginning of our new church year. I want to take a moment to share a recent highlight that speaks directly to the heart of our mission and values as a congregation.
On July 19th, I had the honor of representing Sepulveda Unitarian Universalist Society along with Marilyn M. and Teri I., at the Garden Party celebration in Studio City, marking the one-year anniversary of the Drop-In Access Center’s operation as an independent affiliate of the NoHo Home Alliance. It was an inspiring event filled with gratitude, connection, and a deep sense of purpose.
In just one year, the Drop-In Access Center has served over 2,000 members of our community – offering essential support and dignity to individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. This kind of impact doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It takes compassion, dedication, and yes, financial support from communities like ours.
I’m proud to say that Sepulveda UU has been a major donor to this program. Our contributions helped make that first year possible, and our continued support will be vital in year to come. As I spoke on behalf of our congregation, I felt the strong presence of our shared values – justice, compassion, and love in action.
Looking ahead, September will be a busy and important time for your Board of Trustees. We are actively engaged in planning for the future of our congregation. This includes participating in the upcoming All-Valley Board Retreat, as well as holding our own Sepulveda UU Board Retreat. These gatherings will give us the opportunity to reflect, vision, and strategize how we can continue to grow, serve, and deepen our presence in the community.
I look forward to sharing more in the coming months as we continue this journey together. Thank you for your ongoing support, passion, and commitment to the work we do – within and beyond our walls.
With gratitude and hope,
Janet
