*Lisa Bailey has been an antiracist activist since she complied with a request to read Malcolm X’s autobiography by her Black friends in 1990. As she began her journey into re-learning the truth about our history in the United States of America and correcting the narrative, it became painfully obvious how little she knew, as a young “white” woman who grew up in homogenized Montana, now living in NYC. Inspired to voraciously read and learn how to be part of the solution and inspire others to do the same, Lisa has been involved in training and education with such organizations as Theatre of the Oppressed NYC, The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, Center for the Study of White American Culture, Inc. and Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) National as well as local chapters (Aware-LA, White People for Racial Justice, SURJ Las Vegas, SURJ NYC). She was also one of the founding Board members of the now dismantled organization of Los Angeles County’s UU Congregations and individuals for social justice, JUUSTICE LA. Lisa is married to SepulvedaUU’s minister, Gordon Clay Bailey, MDiv, and is a consultant as the Advocacy Manager for Axis Advocacy, a point of care Sickle Cell Disease non-profit organization.
