Let’s play ball!

Baseball is our national pastime, it’s been said.  What lessons can we see in the analogies of a baseball game and our spiritual journey?  How can this team here at SUUS work together to create a winning season?  On Sunday, July 23 – let’s explore in a fun and also a spiritual way, how to create that winning team!  Let’s have fun and enjoy Unitarian Universalism!

Catcher, Rev. Jo Green leads the team onto the field Sunday, July 23.

The Reverend Jo Ann Elizabeth Green is the full name she uses but prefers to go by Jo, as she prefers to be called.  She came to ministry as a third career after years teaching art to 7th Graders and working in the corporate world later on.  She graduated from Starr King School for the Ministry with a Master of Divinity degree and completed her Internship and Residency at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill under the guidance of Rev. Manish Mishra-Marzetti.  This church, along with the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration where she was a Consulting Minister, ordained her.  She completed her Chaplaincy Residency in Central Pennsylvania at Geisinger Health Center in Danville PA.  Pastoral Care is an integral part of ministry, she feels, and is grateful that she had this opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge that accompanies this program. Geisinger is a Level 1 Trauma Center and she gained valuable experience there as a Chaplain.  She is returning to Chaplaincy once again after serving at 5 different congregations and is excited to explore what offerings are here for her in Los Angeles County. She has decided to make a life change and has returned to the Los Angeles area as she has dear friends and family here.  After experiencing all aspects of parish ministry, she feels the pull of chaplaincy once again and is looking forward to doing this work full time.
