The job of writing what’s commonly called the “Annual Canvass Sermon,” or what is sometimes referred to as “The Sermon on the Amount” is hard on many ministers. Heck, most of us aren’t comfortable discussing money with our partners in the comfort of our own living rooms, much less talking about it with the whole congregation in a worship service. To many ministers, they feel that it’s disingenuous for ministers to get involved in the annual fund drive, since their salary depends on it. Other ministers, apparently calling upon their long-forgotten Puritan roots, would rather not get their hands dirty. In our UU congregations, you frequently hear that ministers are much more comfortable talking about sex than we are talking about money.

Well folks, I like both money and a host of other topics! Let’s talk about our future. It depends on you. Tell me what a person spends their money on, and I’ll tell you what / who they love!

Join us at SepulvedaUU for a heartwarming tale of the little congregation that could. Let’s figure things out and bravely go to places we may have only dreamed of going!

All are invited on Sunday evening at 4:30 pm for welcome and hospitality as we gather for our evening celebration. Our Service begins at 5:00 pm and lasts approximately one hour after which all are invited to enjoy conversation and refreshments.

All are welcome!
