Vice President’s Letter

December 2025

Dear SepulvedaUU community,

This month I simply wanted to share some quotes by Clara Barton I find particularly meaningful at this time.

“I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I can stand and feed and nurse them” and “My business is stanching blood and feeding fainting men”. 

Other famous sayings include her defiance of tradition, as in “I have an almost complete disregard of precedent, and a faith in the possibility of something better,” and her focus on meeting needs: “You must never so much think as whether you like it or not, whether it is bearable or not; you must never think of anything except the need, and how to meet it.”
