Welcome New Members Aimee and Zerin!
July 2025
Dear Amiee M. and Zerin F.,
On behalf of the entire Sepulveda Unitarian Universalist Society community, we joyfully welcome you into our spiritual family. We are honored and delighted that you have chosen to journey with us, bringing your presence, your spirit, and your unique gifts into our beloved community.
As a congregation rooted in love, justice, and the inherent worth and dignity of every person, we embrace your membership with open hearts. Your decision to join SepulvedaUU is a powerful affirmation of the values we hold dear – compassion, freedom, inclusion, and hope.
In this moment of welcome, we extend not only our open arms but the right hand of solidarity. This is more than a greeting, it is a sacred commitment to walk together in mutual support and shared purpose. Whether through worship, service, learning, or celebration, may you find here a place of belonging, growth, and deep connection.
Welcome home, Amiee and Zerin. You are now part of a vibrant, justice-seeking, joy-filled community of Unitarian Universalists. Together, we build the beloved community.
With blessings and excitement,
Rev Gordon Clay Bailey

Learn more about our New Members

Aimee M was born in Pusan, South Korea. She was adopted by an American mother and Italian father. She grew up on Long Island and lived in New York until 2021. While in New York, Aimee volunteered for One.org and Amnesty International.
Through her Amnesty Int’l connection, she coordinated a backpack collection for a school in Kenya. She also participated in multiple NYC Pride parades and protest marches. During 2017 – 2020, she kept signs in her car because she often would spontaneously happen upon marches. Aimee was also a member of the World Wildlife Fund and regularly donated to Planned Parenthood.
A Title IX and Civil Rights Investigator since 2018, Aimee and her family moved to Northridge in 2021. She has four children between the ages of 13 and 23.
Aimee’s spiritual journey is similar to a lot of our UU experiences. She was raised Catholic. Although she continues to feel a spiritual connection to the world, as an adult she came to doubt the institution regarding its stance on gay marriage, abortion, and its history of child abuse.
We are enjoying getting to know Aimee as a member of our community. She loves chocolate almost as much as travel, and animals. She has already jumped right in to start helping with our Hospitality Team!
Zerin F was born and raised in Bangladesh, where she became an outspoken advocate for secular humanism, LGBTQ+ rights, and women’s rights. often at great personal risk. As an Ex-Muslim and Atheist in a Muslim-majority country, her activism made her a target. In 2016 she made the difficult decision to seek safety and asylum in the United States.
Since arriving in the US, Zerin has continued her advocacy while pursuing her education. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Arizona State University. She is passionate about science and reason, and deeply committed to building a more just, compassionate, and equitable world.
Zerin brings a global perspective to our community and is a strong voice for freedom of thought and expression. Her values align closely with Unitarian Universalism, particularly our shared commitment to justice, equity, and the inherent worth and dignity of every person.
Outside of activism and academic work, Zerin enjoys gardening, cooking flavorful vegan meals, and engaging in deep conversations about science, ethics, and social change. We are honored to have her in our community and grateful for the wisdom and warmth she brings to our shared spaces.
