Homecoming: Gathering In for a New Year (09/13)

On this first Sunday of our congregational year, we gather with our two new intern ministers, Paolo Sparti and Chase Williams. From wherever the summer has taken us, we come together ready to begin again together.

Homecoming is an act of vision: a chance to ask where we are being called as a community in the season ahead. We welcome every hand, heart, and story home, and we step into the year with hope.

The Sunday Experience

Children’s Play Trays:

Children are welcome to join the adults in the Sunday Experience. We provided Children’s Play Trays, which are filled with fun activities to help children engage and participate in during the Sunday service. Breaking Bread Together

Join us on this second Sunday of September for a special evening of food, fellowship, and welcome! We’re kicking back and enjoying a delicious Italian dinner prepared by Buon Gusto.

As a special treat, we’ll gather around the table together to warmly welcome our new student ministers to Sepulveda UU Society. There’s no better way to celebrate new beginnings than by sharing a meal, good conversation, laughter, and community.

Come hungry, come relaxed, and come ready to break bread together!

Gathering around a shared table is a special time to share stories, deepen our connections, and widen our circle of community. Come hungry, bring a dish if you are able, and most importantly, bring yourself. All who are attending are welcome to bring foods that reflect your heritage or a family favorite.

Matching Funds w/ CLUE’s Detained Immigrant Bond Fund

KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER

CLUE’s Detained Immigrant Bond Fund provides financial support to help secure the release of detained community members from immigration detention. People released from detention are more likely to secure an attorney and more likely to win their cases. Those who can’t pay bond stay incarcerated in abominable conditions. Some give up and self-deport.

Bonded individuals can go back to their lives and families while they build a case to gain status. Detainees who use for-profit-bond securers often face outrageous interest payments.

One hundred percent of donations go directly to bonds (minus credit card fees if that’s how you choose to give). Even better, after each case is resolved, the bond money is returned to our fund. That means your donation will go on helping more detained individuals.

Persons in DHS/ICE Custody

• Detained within the Greater Los Angeles/Southern California Region (including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties).
• Prioritization for individuals detained on/after May 15, 2025 and referred through the Southern California Rapid Response Network, especially those who have contacted ImmDef’s Rapid Response hotline
• Eligibility is subject to change, if you are not sure if you qualify, we encourage you to apply anyways
